Blog for Music Lovers from Sarah Connolly

My name is Sarah Connolly and I am glad to welcome you to my blog. It is dedicated to the most important passion of my life — music! The idea to create a blog has been lingering in my mind for a long time.

However, the turning point was the success of my friends Katie Wager. Her blog is dedicated to iGaming. Katie’s support was really huge. Thanks a lot for that. Their blogs are dedicated to iGaming, and I don’t understand a thing about this. I’m a real music lover instead. Seeing that people do appreciate helpful information, I finally decided to start my own music blog. Let me tell you more about it.

My Blog Purpose

Music is one of the most popular topics for blogging and there are lots of websites like this one. In order to stand out from the rest, one needs to have serious arguments. Such a blog would allow me to combine the two main hobbies of my life — writing and music.

As for readers, I am sure that in the era of streaming services and automatic music selection systems, people lack a somewhat old-school approach to music. The format of a small cozy blog may turn out to be useful. I will highlight the recent news from the industry, collect my mixes, and share impressions. All readers will be able to directly participate in these processes.

My Music Interests

My passion for music, and, therefore, my taste, have been shaping up since childhood — ever since I first heard The Beatles’ tracks in my father’s car. It was an old cassette that contained 20 hits of the Liverpool four from different albums. This was my first conscious musical experience, I was about 5 years old. And this was the first moment when I realized that I really like listening to such music.

So, it was the taste of my parents that shaped my music preferences. I approached adolescence as a big fan of The Beatles and rock bands of the 70s: Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. In addition to these iconic bands and their works, I also fell in love with the music of related genres like that created by Elvis, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, and Marvin Gaye.

Music Idols that Influence my Music Tastes

I am very careful with the word ‘idol’ and try to never idealize my favorite musicians. But in adolescence, it was difficult not to turn Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain into idols. With age, I began to understand that these were ordinary people, albeit very talented. We certainly have to give credit for their talent and success, but we should not turn them into a sort of gods.

Still, speaking of those who influenced my modern tastes the most, I can name a few. First of all, these are The Beatles. Within 10 years, they managed to go from cheap rock-and-roll to progressive rock with grunge elements. Such an evolution allowed them to give rise to several new musical directions at once. And this cannot but amaze. So, I am sure that The Beatles influenced my tastes in music the most. It is not only because this was the first music I listened to. It is also because the incredible writing and composing talents of these guys are still unrivaled.
